REFERENCE SERVICES

The Library Staff are here to assist you. Faculty are encouraged to consult with a librarian for assistance in locating and accessing information to support course work. We will gladly work with you in developing assignments that can make the most of the resources available in the Library. We can help you navigate though the research process and demonstrate how to use the online Library catalog, MeLCat and the Library databases.

LIBRARY INSTRUCTION

Faculty are welcome to request library instruction for their classes through out the school semester. Kendall Library provides general instruction sessions that will introduce students to the Library: the Online Library Catalog, print materials and online databases. Upon request we can also create instruction sessions tailored to guide students to resources to help them complete specific assignments, papers or projects.

AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPEMENT
A limited number of slide projectors and combination TV/VCR/DVD carts are available for faculty to reserve for in class use. Equipment is available on a first come first serve basis. Faculty must come to the library to sign up for Audio-Visual equipment use.

Laptops and digital projectors are NOT available through the Library. Please see Tech Services on the 4th floor.

COURSE RESERVES
For ease and equitable use, faculty may place materials on reserve in the library. Reserve materials are kept behind the circulation desk. The library policy and procedures regarding course reserves may be obtained in the Library. Please ask a Librarian for assistance.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN
MeLCat now has over 300 participating libraries. We recommend using MeLCat to request materials not held in the Kendall Library. For assistance, ask at the circulation desk.

Please talk with a librarian about getting materials not available through MeLCat.

OFF CAMPUS ACCESS

How do I Access Online Library Resources Off Campus?
This would include access to your library account, MeLCat, and all Library Databases

The library URL is http://libkcad.ferris.edu/

There are TWO ways to access online Library resources from off campus:

EASY WAY: Enter your MYFSU ID + PASSWORD

OLD WAY: Enter your NAME + KENDALL / FERRIS Card + PIN

Your 14 DIGIT BARCODE NUMBER is located on the back of your ID Card

EXAMPLE : 22123456789100 - Do not enter the A's

Your PIN

Students/Faculty/Staff prior to 2006 enter the LAST 4 DIGITS of your Social Security number.

Students/Faculty/Staff after fall 2006 enter your 6 DIGIT BIRTHDATE.

EXAMPLE: Birthday is Jan 3, 1975 ENTER: 010375
